Loo'siana Atmosphere, Danville Style
That distinctive aroma of Louisiana filé gumbo wafting past the courthouse
these days is not a figment of your imagination. That's just Marie Pribble doing
what she's always wanted to do.
Don and Marie Pribble, owners of Java Hut, add a little spice to Danville with their
Louisiana-inspired menu.

Pribble and her husband Don are adding a little Bayou spice to Danville from their
Java Hut on North Vermilion Street. Since acquiring the coffee shop a year ago,
the Pribbles have slowly expanded on the coffee and bagel breakfast fare.
The Hut now boasts lunches and dinners of jambalaya, crawfish
étouffée, red beans and rice, and Cajun-style chicken and
sausage gumbo.
"I hold back on the seasoning a little bit," admits Marie, a Baton Rouge
native whose career has included restaurant management, catering service and resort
property sales. "People here are a little hesitant to try these dishes at first,
but then they love them."
The Pribbles have also introduced a twice-a-month music performance at the restaurant,
ranging from jazz combos to string quartets.
